Fighting for a different future

The Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter is thrilled to announce the Alzheimer’s Association Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Soldier Field’s Southeast Lawn.

At the Alzheimer’s Association, we’re fighting for a brighter future—a future without Alzheimer’s. For families facing the disease today, for more time with loved ones, and for groundbreaking treatments, we are closer than ever to stopping Alzheimer’s. But to reach this goal, we need you. Join us for the world’s largest fundraiser to fight Alzheimer’s and all other dementias.

“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are now treatments that change the course of the disease,” said, Mary DeMars, Alzheimer’s Association Walk Director “We hope that everyone in our community can join us by starting a team to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments and finally ending this disease.”

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024Location: Soldier Field (Southeast Lawn), 1410 Special Olympics Dr., Chicago, IL

Time: 8:30 AM

On Walk day, we’ll start with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony—a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against Alzheimer’s. During the ceremony, walkers will carry flowers of various colors, each representing their personal connection to the disease. Afterward, participants will enjoy a beautiful walk along the lake, passing through the Soldier Field Concourse, and returning to the Southeast Lawn for a festival filled with live music by the School of Rock house band, family activities, food trucks, and more!

Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Illinois alone, over 266,500 people are living with the disease, and 314,000 caregivers are supporting them. Your participation helps us support these individuals and drive the research needed to find a cure.
